Meditation and Retreats in Pennsylvania

Meditation is defined as a practice of familiarizing our minds with states that produce happiness or inner peace and reduce or eliminate states that cause us to be unhappy. In a systematic, step by step way, we can gradually learn to train our minds in new habits and thereby create a more meaningful life - in this way, we are then poised to become more effective in our own lives and to help others.

As we learn these methods, we gain our own practical experience of their effects. By taking some of these methods to heart, we can find ways in which to integrate and develop them within the context of our own lives. Other benefits of meditation are being discovered all the time in our culture: we begin to deal with our stress more effectively, we improve our own physical and mental health, and we can begin to create a life that is more peaceful and productive.

Meditation is a technology that is thousands of years old, yet is an ideal practice to help bring more balance to modern busy lives.

Kalpa Bhadra Buddhist Center offers traditional Buddhist prayers with guided meditation at various times each month, which are open to everyone. Please see our monthly calendar for specific dates.
